Why I chose Pusat Bahasa Teikyo?

I chose Pusat Bahasa Teikyo because I was recommended to by my family member who works in Tokyo now. When I decided to pursue my studies in Japan, I was told that PBT was one of the most recognized schools for Japanese language. When I was visiting the Japanese College I wanted to go to, they too advised me to enroll in Teikyo. Hearing that made me decide to choose Teikyo.

School Life at PBT

Around 3 years ago I made the decision to further my studies in Japan. At the time, I had already known that I would need to get either JLPT N2 or EJU, however I did not know the difficulty of those exams.
To make matters worse, Before entering PBT, I had no experience in Chinese characters, which made studying Japanese so much more difficult. Thankfully, PBT has the most helpful teachers I have ever met. They would go out of their way to make sure you understand each lesson, advise you when you need help and even remind you when your work is lacking. They are strict, but they were also friendly and even made some jokes in class, so don’t be afraid of them.
The 12 months course was extremely difficult and I thought passing EJU and JLPT N2 in 1 year was impossible. Midway through the course I was already prepared to give up and either study in a local college or move on to the 20 months course.
However, the teachers in PBT went above and beyond to help me with my homework, my tests and even my speaking abilities. Every day when I come to class, even though I found the work difficult, the teachers I had made it seem possible to do. If there was any question I had, they would answer it in a way that is easily understood.

Messages to PBT’s students

For those of you who were crazy enough to take the courses, here is what I can say. You will look at your textbooks and think, “this is impossible”. And I assure you, it is impossible if you do not work with your teachers. While the content is extremely difficult, your teachers will go to great lengths to make sure you understand the content and can remember it. They can be strict, but they can also be very friendly. They are there to help you succeed, all you need to do is cooperate with them. To the people who cannot read a single Chinese character, have no fear. Almost half of my class could not read kanji, yet we all passed the exams. Your years in Teikyo will be or will be close to the most difficult years of your life, but the rewards are worth it. After graduating Teikyo, I can confidently say that it was the most difficult year of my life that I will miss. So to all of you who sign up, don’t give up! 頑張ってください!
